Pogoplug to bring easy file sharing to countries around the world
San Francisco based startup Cloud Engines, the maker of PogoPlug, a device that lets you access and share content from your hardrives through the internet, today secured $3 million in funding according to a SEC filing.
The money will be used for the next phase of the Pogoplug, which CEO Daniel Putterman spotlights in a recent blog post:
“Now we’re going to take it up to the next level by bringing Pogoplug to a retailer near you. We’re also working on translating the product to multiple languages and making our offering available in multiple countries around the world.”
Last month, Cloud Engines announced a new generation of Pogoplug offering four USB drives for expanded data capacity as well as additional software features. Setup is easy. Plug the box into a regular power outlet, hook it into an Ethernet connection and connect a hard drive or flash drive via a USB cable. The device allows users to search across drives, create slideshows, photo timelines, share address books, and even play movies directly from your iPhone.
Estimates put the company near $6 million in funding to date through two rounds lead by Foundry Group.
