Nokia announces 5800 Navigation Edition

We’re not sure why Nokia decided to do this, but they’ve just announced a new version of their 5800 phone dubbed as the 5800 Navigation Edition.

Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition

If not for its silver trim, you can easily this one as the 5800 XpressMusic. Its features are likewise identical with its XpressMusic sibling. So what’s different with 5800 Navigation Edition? Living up to the Navigation Edition name, it comes with lifetime voice-guided drive and walk navigation licenses as well as quick access to regional maps and the latest Ovi Maps which now features high-resolution aerial images, 3D landmarks in over 200 cities, weather service, travel and events content, and traffic and safety warnings making this more well-suite for the frequent traveler. They’re also throwing in an 8GB microSD card, car mount, and car charger in the package as well making this an ideal phone for frequent travelers. It’s priced at €285 (roughly $405) before taxes and subsidies and is expected to ship within the quarter.

We’re not exactly too thrilled at the lack of creativity on Nokia’s part deciding to recycle an already existing device to target a whole new market, but as they say, if it works, why fix it? So, do you guys think this new ploy of Nokia will work?
